How do you get investors for your business? It starts with you, and with your pitch. Your pitch includes a ‘pitch deck’ which is a slide presentation with a quick overview of your business. Slides typically include a description of your team, what problem you’re solving, the market, your competition and your advantages over that competition, and it may include plans for an ‘exit’, which describes who would buy your company, in what time frame, and for how much.

Investors want to have confidence that the person leading the company that they’re investing in is the right choice. The first impression they get of you is your pitch. If that falls flat, they’ll look elsewhere. There are programs that help entrepreneurs develop their companies and their pitches. We’re lucky to have TechLaunch in Northern NJ, our answer to Shark Tank!

If you want to find out more about pitching and the process, join myself and others from the entrepreneurial community on June 22nd at Fairleigh Dickinson University for TechLaunch’s Bullpen, where you can observe a pitch competition led by some of the best. It may inspire you to go to TechLaunch and pitch your own company!
