Apple gets zinged for patent infringement

Does tech need patents?  Some will tell you no.  Patents are expensive, the tech moves too fast, etc.
Is that always the case?  We think not.
You may be sorry if you don’t patent your invention, and a lot happier (and richer) if you do.

Apple got a lesson in why patents matter.  On July 25th, a judge ordered them to pay $507 Million in damages to the University of Wisconsin-Madison for patent infringement for a patent issued in 1998.
9to5Mac had a nice article about this:

You may want to think twice about just giving your intellectual property away to everyone and anyone and watching them make millions while giving you zilch.  Of course, as a patent law firm helping entrepreneurs, we are a little biased toward protecting the ‘little guy’.
