Do you have an idea for a chemical solution to a problem?

Do you have an idea for a new business in the field of chemistry or related to chemistry?

Have you started a chemical business but want help getting your business off the ground and growing it into a viable enterprise?

If you answered yes to any of the above, then we have some good news.

The American Chemical Society (ACS) has launched an initiative to create jobs in the U.S. in the field of chemistry by helping entrepreneurs build successful companies. The initiative supports entrepreneurs who want to start a chemical or chemical-related business, by helping them obtain training and providing other resources. The application period opened October 1st; to apply, go to www.ACS.org. Pull down the ‘careers’ tab to be taken to the careers page, then open the link in the upper right corner for “Online Forum for Chemical Entrepreneurs”.

Some information you’ll find:

The ACS has partnered with Kauffman FastTrac to offer training in entrepreneurism and help you start up your idea for a new business; you can receive this training if you obtain a spot in the program. Information is under the Entrepreneurial Training Program (ETP) link. The Kauffman Foundation (www.Kauffman.org) is “the world’s largest foundation devoted to entrepreneurship”.

The ACS also has a link to the Entrepreneurial Resources Center (ERC), where they offer many helpful resources, including introduction to sources of capital and mentoring by successful entrepreneurs, open to entrepreneurs who qualify for the program.

Information on The Kathryn C. Hach Award for Entrepreneurial Success, which the ACS started in 2012. You must be an ACS member to apply. This is “a national award recognizing outstanding entrepreneurs who have created a commercially viable business within the chemical enterprise.”

The site also has a vendor list. Gearhart Law is pleased to be a vendor for this initiative, offering reduced-cost patent, trademark, and general intellectual property services to entrepreneurs who contact us through the initiative.

The new application period started October 1st, so if you have an idea for a new business in the sphere of the chemical arts, go to www.ACS.org today.
